Alazy Saturday afternoon on the sofa. A comfortable pillow on your neck, the birds are singing outside and you are sitting inside. A nice book, a cup of tea, the balcony doors slightly open. No intrusive to-do lists in your head, no family members running around, no questions or appointments. These hours are yours. Many people ask for more moments like this. However, it is difficult to actually achieve this.
Time is more precious than gold. If we don't spend our time well, we don't get a second chance to organize it differently. We live in a time when we are very busy with our work, our relationships, our family and our social contacts. It's difficult to plan a moment for yourself, but time for yourself is essential. Why is it so important? And how can we create time for ourselves?
Dare to say no once in a while
Dare to be honest with yourself and try to say “no” to family, friends or work more often. The problem often lies in setting priorities. Very often we let urgent matters guide us, both at work and in our personal lives. Questions that you receive and that require an immediate answer accompany us in everyday life. You should ask the questions more often: Is it important? And for whom is it important? For the other person or for yourself? If the answer to these questions is often not you, you might consider changing your behavior and responses to these questions.
Create moments for yourself
Just like a battery, once in a while we need to be recharged to get going again. If you don't give your body a chance to charge itself, it will eventually give up. You give yourself a break to calm down. So you can let everything that happened sink in and calmly find your balance again.
If you find it difficult to make time for yourself because, for example, you are studying, working, being in a relationship and hanging out with friends a lot? Then try to integrate small “I blocks” into your daily life. For example, go for a walk, have a cup of coffee in town or meet up with a friend for dinner. You should also spoil yourself from time to time, even if there is no special occasion, treat yourself to something! For example, buy a new outfit, a new pair of gold earrings , something for the garden or a new kitchen appliance.
Ultimately, having more time to yourself is not only good for you, but also for the people around you. Taking time for yourself makes you a better person. You become calmer, happier, more energetic, grow and develop yourself. In the end, the people around you benefit as well. And when you feel good, you will radiate that to others too. Enthusiasm is contagious.
You literally feel better about yourself. This allows you to interact with people with more focus, joy, energy and success. So consciously take time for your own success and happiness.
